Henderson, KY 7/6/21- Tuesday evening the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force (PNTF) and the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office conducted an on-going controlled ‘meth buy/bust’ operation on Johna Mercedes Stone, 29 of Robards.
According to Detective Bill Mills of the PNTF, Stone met with a Confidential Source (C/S) in the parking lot of the Cairo Elementary School, located on Hwy 41-A, where she sold approximately 11 grams of suspected Methamphetamine to the C/S, which was closely monitored by detectives with the PNTF. After the drug sale was complete, Detective Mills says Stone, who was driving a white 2009 Mitsubishi SUV, was observed driving away from the school heading North on Hwy 41-A towards Henderson.
Henderson deputies located Stone near the intersection of Hwy 41-A & Hwy 425 when they conducted a stop on the vehicle. During the contact and interview with Stone, deputies and detectives observed 3 young children inside the vehicle ages 4, 5 and a 10 years old.
Detectives say Stone was uncooperative in the beginning but eventually turned over the money that she received from the drug transaction. The bills in Stone’s possession matched the bills that were given to the C/S to make the transaction at Cairo School previously. No other drugs were located in the vehicle.
During the arrest, deputies reported Stone appeared to be having a medical issue and EMS was called to the scene. After being checked out by EMS and refusing further treatment or transport to a medical facility, Stone was released back to deputies and was arrested and transported to the Henderson County Detention Center where she was lodged and charged for:
- TRAFFICKING CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST. METH. >2 GRAMS.
- ENDANGERING THE WELFARE OF A MINOR. (3 Counts).
Stone is being held under a No Bond and the children were turned over to family members who responded to the scene and took custody of the three.
