Vehicle recovered from Ohio River

HENDERSON, Ky 12/11/2020– Just before 7:30 Friday night emergency responders in Henderson were called to the downtown riverfront for a vehicle that had drove into the Ohio River. Responders from several agencies including the Henderson Fire Department, Henderson City/ County Rescue Squad, Henderson Emergency Management, Henderson Coroners Office, and the Henderson Police Department Water Patrol responded with several boats and divers to attempt to locate the vehicle and its occupants.

According to the report from HPD, responders arrived on scene within minutes of the dispatch to the 2nd Street Boat Ramp.

Officers say a single vehicle was recovered from the river and that the investigation is currently ongoing at this time. Witnesses tell HW “we yelled and screamed for them to stop but they kept driving straight for the water.”
