UPDATE: Two Men Die After Falling at Big Rivers in Robards | Identified
Henderson, KY 6/8/22 – Just after 1PM on Tuesday, Henderson rescue crews were on scene at Big Rivers in Robards working to help two people who fell into what was described as a manhole at the Green Plant.
Big Rivers Electric Corporation released more information in a press release saying that the hole was actually a drainage collection system. Big Rivers also says one of the people involved was a Big Rivers employee while the other was an employee of their contractor.
Officials with the City of Henderson announced Tuesday evening that the two individuals involved have died. Toxic fumes in the hole and hazardous conditions made recovering the individuals difficult. Hazmat specialists and rope rescue personnel from Henderson, Owensboro and Evansville were on scene assisting with recovery efforts.

The Henderson County Coroner’s Office has released the identities of two men who were killed in the incident at the Big Rivers Green plant off of Highway 2096 in Henderson County. The coroner’s office identified the men as Eric Williams, 34 of Henderson, and Phillip Hill, 39 of Muhlenberg County.
Autopsies for both men are currently underway.
The actual cause of death is unknown at this time. It is also unknown how they fell into the hole.
Responders from Robards Fire Department, Henderson Fire Department, Deaconess Henderson EMS, Henderson City/ County Rescue Squad, AirEvac, Henderson Emergency Management, Owensboro, and Evansville were initially called to the scene.
