Two Men Arrested After ‘Pipe Bomb’ Threat Investigation

Morganfield, KY 8/6/21– The Union County Sheriffs Office received information on Friday of a man being in possession of a “pipe bomb”.

According to reports, the man allegedly made threats to use the bomb to do harm to others. The Sheriffs Office quickly began an investigation into the matter resulting in the execution of a search warrant at an address on Rd 5 near Morganfield.

Deputies with the Sheriffs Office along with assistance from the Kentucky State Police, Owensboro ATF, KSP and FBI Bomb Squads and several investigators executed the warrant and did locate a homemade hazardous device and components to produce a hazardous device inside the residence. Deputies say the device was removed from the residence and detonated in a nearby field due to the unstable and unpredictable nature of the device.
