Suspect Charged in Pond Street Shooting Investigation
Henderson, KY 8/26/21- The Pond Street shooting investigation has lead detectives of the Henderson Police Department to a suspect.
According to detectives, the suspect is 17 years old and has admitted to shooting the victim with an AR-15 style rifle. The juvenile has been charged with Assault 1st Degree.
Officers were called to the 800 block of Pond Street Wednesday night in reference to the report of a vehicle hitting a pole as well as people hearing gunshots. Officers located the victim with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the back of the head. The victim survived the gunshot and was able to speak to officers before being transported to the hospital. Just after the collision with the pole, the victim did not even realize he had been shot nor did he hear gunshots. The victim’s name has not been released.
During the investigation, detectives located several .556 casings from the AR-15 style rifle on the scene.
