Stolen Vehicle Leads to Arrest of Man with Outstanding Warrants

Henderson, KY 8/25/21- Officers with the Henderson Police Department were patrolling in the 1700 block of south Green Street early Wednesday morning, when they observed a white Dodge Dakota matching the description of a recently stolen vehicle reported out of Henderson County traveling southbound.

According to police, the vehicle pulled into the parking lot at the Holiday Motel and then backed into a parking spot. Officers ran the license plate on the vehicle and the license plate came back as the vehicle reported stolen out of Henderson County.

Officers observed a white male, with a beard, and brown hair exit the truck and go into a hotel room. Upon further investigation and running the VIN number of the vehicle, it was confirmed the plates and VIN all matched the truck that was reported stolen.

Officers approached the room where the male entered and located Brandon Owens, 39 of Henderson inside the room. Initially Owens lied to officers regarding his identity by using his brothers name and birthday. Officers were able to identify Owens by comparing drivers license photos.

Owens was arrested and charged for:

  • Receiving Stolen Property $1,000<$10,000 for the vehicle,
  • Receiving stolen Property for the license plate,
  • Theft of Identity Without Consent.
