State of Emergency Declared Today by Gov Beshear | KSP Cruiser Hit
Lexington, KY 1/6/22- Gov. Andy Beshear declared a State Of Emergency on Thursday evening after snowfall caused serious issues on roadways all across the state. The Kentucky National Guard was also activated and is assisting at interstate closures and standing by on other areas of the interstates, according to the announcement.
The snow has caused problems on interstates, side roads as well as causing multiple power outages, and lots of slide offs. According to Gov. Beshear, damage was also reported to “public infrastructure” and property.
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet officials and the Kentucky State Police are also patrolling interstates and search and rescue teams are activated for safety checks on stranded motorists, according to Beshear’s announcement. Any need for warming centers is monitored by the Red Cross.
“We are urging Kentuckians to stay off the roads if possible,” Beshear said in his announcement. “The weather we are continuing to see across Kentucky is dangerous.”

“Thankfully the trooper working a wreck was outside of his cruiser when a driver ran into the back. You never know what’s on the other side of the hill.. Always be prepared to stop!”
