UPDATE: SUSPECT EVADES POLICE; Considered Armed and Dangerous
OWENSBORO, Ky. 5/29/21- The suspect from a police-involved shooting incident on Monday was captured in Florida today by Broward County Sheriff’s deputies, according to Trooper Corey King with Kentucky State Police Post 16.
Sandy “Slim” Thompson was involved in the incident that took place at Wingfield Inn & Suites but fled the scene.

OWENSBORO, Ky. 5/24/21 – Kentucky State Police and Owensboro Police Department are investigating a shooting involving law enforcement at the Wingfield Inn, 3220 W. Parrish Avenue, Owensboro. Authorities, acting on a crime tip, located a stolen vehicle in the parking lot of the hotel just after noon.

Officers made contact with Sandy “Slim” Thompson, 41 of Owensboro at a room on the second floor of the hotel. Thompson brandished a pistol and pointed it at officers who were in the hallway. One officer discharged his service weapon towards Thompson who was not struck.
Thompson fled from authorities by jumping out of the second floor window and ran east on Parrish Avenue towards the Airport/Bittel Road area.
Thompson is considered armed and dangerous. Kentucky State Police encourages the public to be vigilant and not confront him if located.
