Sheriff’s Cruiser Hit by a U-Haul Truck

Henderson, Ky 3/21/21- Just after 4AM this morning the Henderson emergency responders were called to the area of N. Green St. and 5th Street for a vehicle collisions with possible injuries.

Once officers with the Henderson Police Department arrived on scene they discovered two vehicles were involved and one of those being a Henderson County Sheriff’s Office cruiser. Police say the other vehicle involved was a rented U-Haul pick-up.

HPD says Brett Simpson (30) was operating the rented U-Haul pick-up and officers determined Simpson was under the influence of an illegal drug. Officers found, in plain view, a small and clear plastic bag containing what officers believed to be meth.

Simpson told police that he smoked spice (K2) while operating the vehicle.

Simpson was transported to Deaconess Henderson Hospital by Deaconess EMS with back pain. He was cleared by Deaconess Henderson Hospital and then taken into custody and transported to the Henderson County Detention Center. The deputy involved in this incident was not injured.

According to the report, while at the detention center, small amount of marijuana was found on Simpson.
