Reported Shooting Nearby Causes Temporary Lock-Down at 2 Henderson Schools

Henderson, KY 2/9/22- Just before 1:30PM Wednesday afternoon, police were called to the 800 block of Meadow Street near Burris Street for the report of a possible shooting in the area.

The Henderson Police Department along with assistance from the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office responded as callers reported hearing one shot and hearing the shot hit an unknown object. According to police, the unidentified shooter then ran East down an alley towards Pond Street.

Due to this incident being significantly close to schools in the area, both South Heights Elementary and South Middle School were put on a brief lock-down for student and staff safety. Investigating officers say this case is still under investigation and anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Henderson Police Department at 270-831-1295 or Henderson CrimeStoppers at 270-831-1111.
