Man Charged with Strangulation/ Assault

Henderson, Ky 3/13/21- Just after 4 AM Saturday morning, deputies with the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office were called to Deaconess ER to investigate the report of an assault and strangulation. The victim says the incident occurred in Corydon.

The victim was a female reporting that her boyfriend, John Layman, allegedly punched and choked her. The victim sustained a broken nose which was broke in two places.

After further investigation and after receiving a tip on Layman’s location, deputies with the assistance of the Henderson Police Department, were able to locate and arrest Layman at the Holiday Motel on S. Green Street in Henderson. Layman was taken into custody and charged for:

  • Assault, 2nd Degree;
  • Strangulation, 1st Degree.

According to officials, Layman was also arrested for two outstanding warrant. Police say one warrant was actually a parole violation warrant for escaping from a KY Department of Corrections facility. Layman is currently lodged at the Henderson County Detention Center.
