Large Fire in Robards Now Under Investigation
Robards, KY 3/25/22- Henderson County volunteer firefighters were called out just before 8AM Friday morning for the report of a fully engulfed fire. First arriving responders reported the involved building being completely engulfed in flames.
According to fire officials with the Robards Fire Department, the building was a former motel in the Robards area which is located just North of the North/ South Truck Stop on Highway 41 South. Robards Captain Wade Denton says the property was currently being used for low-income housing. Denton says 2 families were displaced due to the fire.
Robards responded with several trucks including their 105 foot ladder truck which could be seen stretched high above the former motel as firefighters attempted to extinguish the flames. Denton says the wind made it extremely hard to put out the fire.

One resident was inside when the fire first broke out, but was able to exit the structure without injury. One other person was reportedly taken to the hospital for injuries unknown at this time.
Henderson Emergency Management Director Kenny Garrett says the Red Cross is working to help those displaced. Kentucky State Police along with the Kentucky State Fire Marshall’s Office is handling the investigation into the cause of the fire.
Robards was assisted on scene by Niagara, Zion, Hebbardsville, and Sebree Fire Departments, Henderson City/ County Rescue Squad, Deaconess EMS, Henderson Co Sheriff’s Office, KSP Arson Investigator, and Henderson EMA. Officials say the Kentucky Fire Marshall’s Office will also be sending 3 more fire investigators to the scene within the next couple days.
