UPDATE: KSP Investigates Double Fatality in Henderson County
Henderson, KY 6/5/21- The Henderson County Coroner’s Office confirmed the infant, who authorities identified as Weston Schaefer, 1 of Spottsville, has also died as a result of the injuries sustained during the crash.

HENDERSON, Ky. (June 4, 2021) Kentucky State Police Post 16 – Henderson received a call around 4 pm on Friday of a multiple vehicle fatal collision on the Audubon Parkway at the three mile-marker.
According to investigators, preliminary investigation reveals Braelen R. Hicks-Schaefer, 24 of Spottsville, KY was traveling eastbound on the Audubon Parkway in a 2006 Toyota Scion. For an unknown reason, Hicks-Schaefer crossed the median, striking a westbound 2011 Toyota Corolla head-on driven by Tony L. Reutter, 62 of Henderson. Reutter’s passenger, Vickie L. Reutter, 62 of Henderson, died on-scene. Tony Reutter was transported by ambulance to St Vincent Hospital in Evansville for treatment. His condition is unknown.

Hicks-Schaefer was extricated from her vehicle by members of the Zion Fire Department and the Henderson Rescue Squad and then airlifted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville where she later died. An infant in Hick-Schaefer’s vehicle was transported by ambulance to Deaconess Hospital. The baby’s condition is unknown but is believed to be life threatening.
The westbound lanes of the Audubon Parkway remains closed as KSP reconstructs the collision. Estimated time up to two hours.

Zion, Hebardsville, and Baskett Fire Departments along with Henderson Deaconess EMS, Henderson City/ County Rescue Squad and AirEVAC assisted with patient care and transport. The KSP were also assisted on scene by the Henderson County Coroner’s Office, Henderson County Sheriff’s Department and Henderson County Emergency Management.
The investigation is on-going.
