Indicted Man Receives More Drug Charges

Henderson, KY 9/14/21- An on-going investigation in Henderson County, which already has a Spottsville man under indictment, brings new charges to the table.

According to Detective Bill Mills with the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force (PNTF), the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office served an arrest warrant on Tuesday for Marijuana Cultivation on a Robert Sweeney JR. (56) at his Spottsville residence in Henderson County. Sweeney was arrested for his involvement in a marijuana growing operation being investigated by the PNTF and the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office. During the investigation, on September 4th deputies received information that Sweeney had several Marijuana plants growing in his back yard.

Det. Mills says the Sheriff’s Office already has an open investigation on Sweeney regarding his involvement in an altercation he previously had with a male subject over suspected Marijuana plant theft and an assault with a weapon for which he is currently under indictment.

Deputies were able to conduct surveillance on Sweeney’s residence located in the 13,000 block of Hwy 1078 North where they were able to see the multiple plants growing. At that time, deputies made contact with Sweeney at his residence and during the interview he advised he was growing the Marijuana for his own personal use.

During the investigation, detectives found a total of seven mature plants which were then seized from Sweeney’s back yard.

Robert E. SWEENEY JR. was arrested on the warrant and charged for:

  • CULTIVATION OF MARIJUANA > 5 PLANTS 1ST. OFFENSE.

Sweeney was transported and lodged in the Henderson County Detention Center without incidence and has a $300.00 Full Cash Bond.
