HPD: Suspect Attempts To Go Home After Evading Police
Henderson, KY 3/12/22- Henderson Police Officers attempted to make a traffic stop on Saturday night but before police could get the vehicle to pull over and stop, the vehicle took off.
According to police, the traffic stop was attempted near the intersection of 3rd and Carlisle Street just after 9PM. Once the officer’s emergency equipment was activated, the vehicle fled from police attempting to evade. Before pulling away from the officer, he was able to obtain the vehicle’s license plate number.
With the license plate information, the investigating officer was able to obtain the vehicle’s home address. Officers were then able to be in the Wood Drive area when the vehicle pulled into the driveway shortly after fleeing and evading the officer from the traffic stop. Officers were then able to take the driver into custody and identified him as Brent Smith, 35 of Henderson.

Smith was taken into custody, transported to the Henderson County Detention Center where he was charged and booked for:
- Disregarding Stop Sign
- Fleeing or Evading Police (1st Degree) (Motor Vehicle)
- No Operators License
- Operating Motor Vehicle U/Influence Substance (1st Degree)
