UPDATE: House Fire Claims One In Corydon
UPDATE:: Corydon, Ky 3/13/21- The Henderson County coroner’s office says the victim of this mornings house fire in Corydon has been identified as Susan Givens (67). The coroner says the victim has been taken to the medical examiner’s office in Madisonville with an autopsy scheduled for Sunday morning.
Corydon Fire Chief Bryan Coghill told HendersonWatch, “The Salvation Army and the community of Little Dixie provided lots of support to our fire department and to the family during their loss and we want to say thank you to everyone who helped us fight this fire today. We also want to say a huge thank you to all of the emergency responders who came out to assist us today. Today was a hard day with the loss of a life, these types of calls are never easy.”
The Corydon Civil Defense Fire Department was on scene this morning into this afternoon for more than 5 hours extinguishing the fire and completing salvage and overhaul operations. Chief Coghill says the fire is still under investigation tonight as they are awaiting the arrival of the Kentucky State Fire Marshal.

Corydon. Ky 3/13/21- Henderson and Union County emergency responders are currently working to extinguish a home on fire in the 8200 block of Pritchett Crooks Road. Corydon Civil Defense, Cairo, Waverly, and Niagara Fire Departments are on scene where a home has completely burned to the ground.
When crews were dispatched to the scene they were told that someone was possibly still inside the home. Firefighters enroute to the scene said heavy black smoke was visible from a distance. As firefighters began to arrive on scene, the structure had already fallen to the ground and was said to be fully engulfed. Deputies with the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office confirm the Henderson County Coroner is enroute to the scene at this time.

The Henderson City-County Rescue Squad, Henderson Emergency Management, Kenergy, Atmos Gas, Kentucky State Fire Marshal, and Deaconess Henderson EMS have all been called to the scene to assist firefighters. Henderson County Sheriff’s Deputies have the roadway closed on both ends to help firefighters get apparatus in and out of the scene.
Corydon Civil Defense on scene command has also requested the Salvation Army to assist the family and firefighters on scene.
