Henderson Schools Switch to NTI for Thursday

Henderson, KY 02/10/21– Snow Day? What is that? Just after 4pm today Superintendent Dr. Bob Lawson announced that all Henderson County Schools will be utilizing Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) for tomorrow, Thursday, February 11th. According to the Henderson Schools social media sites, this means that Group 2 students will not be attending school in-person tomorrow. All schools will be communicating with students and families with plans for virtual learning.

The announcement also says that all HCS Childcare Centers will be closed on Thursday, February 11th. The “grab and go” meal pick-up was changed from today and rescheduled for Friday, February 12th from 11am-1pm.

Henderson County Schools have been utilizing virtual learning NTI days this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic and because of changes to the school calendar, the school website says the decision was made to continue using NTI this school year for snow/inclement weather days.

On an NTI day, students must still complete their schoolwork from home using virtual learning even if school buildings close because of inclement weather. Individual schools will communicate with students and families plans for Google meets. According to the website, students should log in to their Google classroom at the start of a school day as they have been doing this year.

Superintendent Dr. Lawson will continue to send out a Parentlink message alerting families when an NTI day will be used due to the weather, and the information will be shared through the media outlets and HCS social media pages.
