Henderson Man Assaults Officers While in Custody

Henderson, KY 5/13/21- Just after 3AM Thursday morning the officers were called to the area of the Ramada Inn for the report of a disturbance in the roadway.

According to the Henderson Police Department, officers arrived on scene to find a man walking in the middle of U.S. Highway 41 yelling. Officers say the man was identified as Gary Joyner, 44 of Henderson. Joyner was placed under arrest for public intoxication but then became actively aggressive towards officers in the back of the patrol car. Officers reported Joyner was thrashing around violently and assaulting officers.

Joyner was then additionally charged with:

  • resisting arrest,
  • assault (3rd Degree) (Police Officer),
  • disorderly conduct (2nd Degree)
