Henderson Man Arrested After Pursuit in Warrick County
Elberfeld, IN 8/12/22- Just before 8AM Thursday morning, the Warrick County Sheriff’s Office says a Deputy was flagged down in Elberfeld in reference to the report of a suspicious person that had approached females and made them feel uncomfortable. The person was described as a male driving a black Mercedes SUV. The witness reported that when he tried to get the license number, the driver drove the vehicle in reverse for several blocks to evade him. A short time later, deputies received a report that there was a black Mercedes SUV backed into an open building at a business south of Elberfeld. When deputies arrived at the business to investigate, the suspect ran to his vehicle. Deputies say the male was wearing a bandana over his mouth and nose and when they approached, the suspect fled in the vehicle.
According to the report, due to the dangerous situation and the fact that the pursuit turned towards Elberfeld Elementary School, the Sheriff’s Office directed Elberfeld Elementary School to go on lockdown. The school was not involved in this incident in any other way and the school was released from lockdown when the suspect was taken into custody.
The suspect avoided stop sticks at two different locations, but struck them on New Harmony Road, near Klippel Road. The vehicle left the roadway near I-69 and the driver fled on foot into interstate traffic before surrendering on I-69 near mile marker 15.
The vehicle was found to have been stolen from Evansville.

The driver was identified as Juan Clay Sexton, 26 of Henderson. Sexton faces preliminarily charges of Resisting Law Enforcement, a level 6 felony, Possession of Methamphetamine, a level 6 felony, Possession of a Stolen Automobile, a level 6 felony, and Reckless Driving, a class A misdemeanor.
Sexton is currently being held in the Warrick County Jail.
