Henderson Co Man Arrested After Pursuit

HENDERSON, Ky. (June 2, 2022)— On Thursday around 7:30pm, a Kentucky State Police trooper was blocking KY 416 near Hebbardsville due to a downed power line covering both lanes. As the trooper was visibly halting traffic, a Toyota Supra drove around the trooper and continued into the work area. The vehicle left at a high rate of speed. The trooper attempted to stop the vehicle; however, the person failed to yield. The trooper observed his speed to be 98 miles-per-hour on KY 416.

The fleeing suspect turned onto Mason Landing Road where he lost control on gravel and overturned. The driver fled on foot but was caught by the trooper. The suspect resisted arrest but taken into custody without further incident.

The operator was identified as Donald S. Howard, 52 of Henderson. He was arrested and transported to Henderson County Detention Center in Henderson.

Mr. Howard was charged by Kentucky State Police with the following offenses:

  1. Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, 3rd Degree
  2. Fleeing/Evading 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)
  3. Fleeing/Evading (On Foot)
  4. Speeding
  5. Resisting Arrest
  6. Driving on a DUI Suspended License 1st Off – Aggravated
  7. No Insurance
  8. Failure to Signal
  9. Disregard Signals From Officer Directing Traffic
