Garage Fire Almost Included Home on Burris Street Thursday

Henderson, Ky 4/7/22- The Henderson Fire Department was called to the report of a structure fire in the 1100 block of Burris Street just before 3PM on Thursday.

According to fire officials, the caller was unclear as to whether it was a house or a garage on fire, but firefighters arriving on scene quickly learned the garage was engulfed in flames and the home was close enough that it was beginning to catch fire as well. Firefighter were on scene within 3 minutes of being dispatched with a fire engine. Within 5 minutes, HFD had 3 more engines, 1 ladder, and 1 rescue truck on scene along with the Battalion Chief and the Safety Officer.

Fire officials say the fire was possibly accidental but is still under investigation at this time. The garage is reported to be a total loss with slight exposure damage to the home. Firefighters say the homeowner was not home at the time of the fire.

Henderson firefighters had the fire knocked down and under control within 3 minutes of arriving on scene and were on scene for approximately one hour. The Henderson Police and Deaconess Henderson EMS were also called to the scene as a precaution.
