Emergency Responders Called to Stranded Hunter

Henderson, KY 1/17/21- Henderson emergency responders were called out on Monday for the report of a hunter stranded in a slough.

Just after 11AM the Henderson County Sheriffs Office, Baskett Community Fire Department, & the Henderson City/County Rescue Squad was called to the Green River Forest on Tscharner Road near Green River Road #1. In the past weeks, the flood waters have been up in this area causing hunters to use kayaks to go hunting.

According to officials, the hunter says he used the kayak to get back to his hunting spot but when he was done the kayak had drifted away causing him to be stranded.

Henderson 911 dispatchers were able to use GPS data from the hunter’s phone ping to lead responders to the general area of he hunter. Responders were able to use a UTV to gain access to the hunter’s location and assist him out of the woods. Representatives with Henderson Emergency Management, Henderson City Fire Department, and the Henderson County Coroner’s Office assisted on this scene with rescue efforts as well.

“All agencies worked together and the hunter was brought to dry land at approximately 1:10PM, where he refused medical treatment. We would like to thank everyone who assisted, including Henderson E911.”

Henderson, KY 1/16/22- On Sunday afternoon the Henderson Police Department responded to a tip in the 1500 block of O’Byrne Street in reference to a Jason Brooks, 48 of Henderson, being at a residence in that area.

According to police, Brooks was wanted on multiple warrants for his arrest. Brooks was located and arrested on his warrants but Brooks didn’t seem to go down easy. Arresting officers say Brooks was also charged with:

  • Possession of Controlled Substance (1st degree)
  • Resisting arrest
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Persistent Felony Offender (1st Degree)

Jason Brooks was transported and lodged at the Henderson County Detention Center.

Along with the original warrants:

  • Non-Payment of Court Costs, Fees, or Fines
  • Failure to Appear x4
  • Fugitive From Another State
