Ellis Park Horse Barn Fire Presumed Electrical
Henderson, KY 8/22/21- Just after 4AM Sunday morning, several Henderson area fire departments were called to assist Baskett Fire Department with an early morning horse barn fire at Ellis Park Racetrack.

According to fire officials, when units arrived on scene at Ellis Park the barn was already fully engulfed in flames. Officials say all horses were rescued from the blaze and only one minor injury to one of the horses was reported as a result of the fire. No human injuries were reported.
Brent Morrow, Fire Chief for Baskett Fire Department, reported that the barn is a total loss and the fire is still under investigation but is presumed to be electrical in nature at this time. Morrow also says that the fire is not under any suspicion of criminal activity.

Races were not held today at Ellis Park but were said to resume on Friday.
Baskett Fire Department was assisted on scene by Spottsville, Niagara, Smith Mills, Hebbardsville, Cairo, Red Cross, Henderson County Road Department, Henderson EMA, Deaconess Henderson EMS, Henderson County Fire Investigators, and Ellis Park Staff.
