Deputy Jailer Arrested in Drug/ Contraband Investigation | Webster County
Dixon, KY 4/25/22- Information was received by Webster County Jailer Greg Sauls and Providence Police Department that drugs and other illegal contraband, organized by at least two inmates from inside the Webster County Jail, were being brought into the Webster County Jail.
During the ongoing joint investigation on Sunday, April 24th at approximately 7PM, Officer Eric Elder lead a surveillance operation at the Webster County Jail with Chief Todd Jones and Sergeant Carl Scheer. Officers observed a vehicle being operated by Aaron Lovell, 22 of Sturgis and passengers William Barnaby, 68 of Henderson, and Maggie Miller, 30 of Morganfield, driving next to a Webster Co. Deputy Jailer’s vehicle.



According to the report, Miller exited the vehicle and appeared to attempt to place a McDonald’s bag inside the Deputy Jailer’s vehicle. Shortly after the vehicle left, officers observed Webster County Deputy Jailer, Jacqueline McMillen (57) exit the jail and go to her vehicle. Sergeant Scheer approached McMillen while Officer Elder and Chief Jones conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle driven by Lovell.

During a search to arrest, inside the vehicle, Officers discovered Methamphetamine, e-cigarettes, a meth pipe, and a bag of McDonald’s food. After interviewing everyone involved, interviews revealed that the three individuals in the vehicle were suppose to place the McDonald’s bag inside the deputy’s vehicle. Concealed within the bag of food was e-cigarettes with methamphetamine inside. Once the contraband was placed in the deputy’s vehicle, Deputy Jailer McMillen was suppose to retrieve the items and bring them into the facility, transferring them to inmates Adam Joel Gray and Derrick Robert Dempsey.
- Deputy Jailer McMillin was arrested and charge with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Methamphetamine) (Complicity), Promoting Contraband 1st Degree (Complicity), Official Misconduct 1st Degree, and Engaging in Organized Crime (Facilitation).
- Aaron Lovell was arrested and charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Methamphetamine), Promoting Contraband 1st Degree, Engaging in Organized Crime, and Operating on Suspended or Revoked Operator’s License.
- William Dennis Barnaby was arrested and charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Methamphetamine) (Complicity), Promoting Contraband 1st Degree (Complicity), and Engaging in Organized Crime.
- Maggie Ann Miller was arrested and charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Methamphetamine), Promoting Contraband 1st Degree, and Engaging in Organized Crime.
- Inmates Adam Gray and Derrick Dempsey were each charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Methamphetamine), Promoting Contraband 1st Degree, and Engaging in Organized Crime.


This is an ongoing joint investigation that initially resulted in three arrests on February 1st when officers discovered that one of the same inmates, Derrick Dempsey, had organized and participated in the introduction of illegal contraband into the Webster County Jail. This resulted in the arrest of a City of Sebree Employee as well as another inmate.
This investigation is ongoing by Officer Eric Elder and additional arrests are expected.
