Covid Memorial in Central Park
HENDERSON, KY 02/05/21– The City of Henderson’s Parks & Recreation Dept. has transformed the Remembrance Tree in the Central Park gazebo into a different type of memorial.

The tree, which was a new feature of Christmas in the Park for the 2020 Christmas season, has been decorated with green mini-lights and now stands as a memorial to local victims of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the Christmas season, local citizens were invited to add an unbreakable ornament to the tree as a remembrance of a friend or loved one. Christmas ornaments that were not reclaimed from the tree have been taken to the Parks & Recreation Office on Madison Street at Fernwood Cemetery for safekeeping in case anyone still wishes to get them back.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear has encouraged individuals, businesses and organizations to burn green lights in tribute to pandemic victims.
For more information, contact the Parks & Recreation Dept. at (270) 831-1274.
