Child Abuse Awareness Month! Children’s Advocacy Center and Sitex Join Forces!

Henderson, Ky 4/2/21- HendersonWatch is going BLUE for the month of April…..! April is Child Abuse Awareness Month! Wear BLUE in the month of April to support and promote Child Abuse Awareness and Sex Trafficking Awareness. Green River District’s Children’s Advocacy Center located in Henderson County is teaming up with Sitex Corporation to collect several items needed by the advocacy center.

The Green River District’s Children’s Advocacy Center is a non-profit that helps children in 7 counties in Kentucky who have been sexually and physically abused, including survivors of sex trafficking. The Children’s Advocacy Center’s mission is to promote the prevention of child abuse and family violence in all its forms, and to promote interagency collaboration to improve community services for child abuse victims and their families.

Sitex Corporation challenges Henderson County to support the advocacy center and has even offered to be a drop-off location if you want to drop items off at their location at 1300 Commonwealth Drive in Henderson. The Children’s Advocacy Center is a child focused, community based program in which professionals from many disciplines (law enforcement, child protective services, prosecution, medical and mental health) come together to offer comprehensive services. The center is specially designed to make children feel comfortable and safe.  The home-like atmosphere minimizes trauma and prevents further victimization. Being a non-profit organization, the center needs help from the community with monetary donations or any of the items listed below:

  • Individual snacks like sandwich crackers, chips, granola bars, gummies.
  • Capri suns/Kool aid pouches
  • Small bottles of water
  • Paper towels
  • Toilet paper
  • Disinfectant spray
  • Disinfectant wipes
  • Garbage bags (all sizes)
  • Liquid hand soap
  • Travel size hygiene products
  • Playdough
  • Small toys for treasure box for young children like hot wheels, dolls, dinosaurs, color books, stickers, animal figurines
  • Items for treasure box for older children like head phones, ear buds, colorful ink pens, adult coloring books, color pencils, chapsticks, basketballs, footballs, decorative notebooks, nail polish, lotion
