Vehicle Traveling in Wrong Direction Causes Fatal 5 Car Collision

HENDERSON, Ky 7/25/21- Kentucky State Police Post 16 – Henderson received a call around 3:50 pm of a five-vehicle fatal collision on the Audubon Parkway at the 11 mile-marker.

According to the release from Kentucky State Police, preliminary investigation reveals Norman A. Hudson, 38 of Rockport, IN was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of the Audubon Parkway in a 2010 Buick Lucerne. Hudson sideswiped a 2019 Nissan Sentra driven by Kristen M. Keown (31). Hudson then struck a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu operated by Kelsie Wheeler (29) in a head-on fashion. Hudson’s vehicle then continued on colliding with a 2020 Ford Ranger driven by James Nelson (56) and a 2019 RAM truck operated by Roy E. Martin (56). After the last impact, Hudson’s vehicle then became airborne and overturned in the median. After the reconstruction investigation, it was determined that Hudson was not utilizing his seatbelt and was ejected from his vehicle. Hudson was pronounced dead on-scene by the Henderson County Coroner’s Office.

Keown and a passenger as well as Wheeler were transported to Deaconess Midtown in Evansville via ambulance. Nelson was flown from the scene to Deaconess Midtown in Evansville with serious injuries. Their current conditions are unknown at this time.

The Audubon Parkway was closed for more than 5 hours Sunday evening as KSP reconstructed the collision.
