UPDATE: HENDERSON, Ky. 7/24/21- (8PM) The Kentucky State Police Post 16 in Henderson received a call from Henderson County Dispatch regarding a two-vehicle fatal collision that occurred Saturday just before 1PM. The collision was on US 60 East at Tscharner Road, east of Henderson.
According to the report, preliminary investigation reveals David F. Crabtree, 73 of Owensboro, was traveling west on US 60 in his 1997 Honda Civic when, for an unknown reason, crossed the centerline. Crabtree then struck a 2013 Hyundai Sonata head-on driven by Elizabeth Mayfield, 19 of Spottsville.
Crabtree succumbed to his injuries on-scene and Mayfield was not injured in the collision. Troopers believe both Crabtree and Mayfield were wearing their seatbelts.
US 60 was closed for three hours as KSP reconstructed the collision. Members from Baskett Fire Department, Spottsville Fire Department, Zion Fire Department, Henderson City-County Rescue Squad, Deaconess Henderson EMS, Henderson County Coroner’s Office, and the Henderson County Sheriff’s Department responded and assisted troopers at the scene.
The investigation is said to be still on-going.
Henderson, KY 7/24/21- (1PM) According to the Henderson County Coroner’s office, one person is confirmed dead after a wreck on U.S. 60 near Tscharner Road on Saturday.
Highway 60 East is currently shut down at Broadview and 60 as well as Rucker 1 and 60 after two vehicles collided head-on. Baskett Fire Department along with Henderson City-County Rescue Squad are on scene with Deaconess Henderson EMS. The duration of the closure is unknown at this time.
The Henderson Sheriffs Office is currently on scene awaiting the arrival of a Kentucky State Police reconstructionist to reconstruct the wreckage.
