Henderson, KY 1/4/21- Emergency responders in Henderson County were called to a fatal collision Tuesday morning just after 8AM. The Henderson County Sheriffs office says the collision occurred at the intersection of US 60 East and KY 1078N (Baskett Lane).
According to deputies, after a reconstruction of the scene, Loretta Duncan, 61 of Henderson, was driving a 2007 Chrysler van and was southbound on KY 1078N (Baskett Lane) and was attempting a left turn onto US 60. William Adams, also of Henderson, was driving a 2011 Ford F-250 pickup traveling westbound on US 60 (towards Henderson) when Duncan reportedly pulled into the path of Adams, causing the t-bone like impact.
The Henderson County Coroner pronounced Loretta Duncan deceased on scene. Duncan’s passenger Ernest Duncan (68) was transported to Deaconess Midtown for his injuries. Adams was not injured in the accident. Loretta Duncan and Adams were wearing seatbelts, deputies say it is unknown if Ernest Duncan was wearing his seatbelt.
The Henderson Sheriff’s Office, Baskett and Spottsville Fire Departments were called to the scene and were assisted by Deaconess Henderson EMS, Henderson Fire Department, Hebbardsville Fire Department, Henderson Emergency Management, the Henderson County Coroner’s Office, and the Henderson City-County Rescue Squad. US Highway 60 East was closed at Rucker #1 and also at Highway 1078 to detour traffic for approximately 3 hours while crews worked to reconstruct the accident and for cleanup.
