Henderson, KY 11/29/21– The 36th-annual Christmas in the Park celebration in downtown Henderson’s historic Central Park will officially open with the tree lighting ceremony at 6PM on Friday, December 3rd.
There are more than 15,000 lights in the display and the popular cutouts will be back in place for the month of December.
“The December 3rd festivities will include the lighting of the 67-foot Christmas tree by decree of Henderson Mayor Steve Austin and Christmas music by the Henderson County High School Band and Henderson County High School Choir starting around 5:30PM.”Donna Stinnett, City of Henderson
Christmas in the Park is presented by the City of Henderson in partnership with the Henderson Breakfast Lions Club and it will feature more than 30 displays, many of which are interactive. Many of them have been refurbished for the 2021 season.
Stinnett says there is also a mailbox for children to use to send their letters to Santa Claus. Drop your letter to Santa there before December 15th and include a return address to receive a reply.
Central Park is adjacent to the Henderson County Courthouse in downtown Henderson. The park has ample on-street parking. The park terrain is flat making it friendly for strollers and wheelchairs.
The Henderson Merchant Christmas Parade in Downtown Henderson will begin at 10AM on Saturday, December 4th. After the completion of the Christmas Parade, Santa Claus will visit with children in Santa’s House in the Christmas in the Park. There is no cost for these events. Those attending are encouraged to bring their cameras to take pictures with Santa.
